Otzi
Otzi is the final project of my B.A studies and it concerns a field that is very dear to me, the tattoo world.
The phenomenon of tattoos that was once the preserve of subcultures, currently occupies an important place in the art world and mainstream Western culture. Tattooed people do not belong to a particular culture, they have no specific age or sociological background. The tattoo is another way modern man found to express himself, like a fashionable clothing item.
Despite the fact that this world of tattoos can be found in the mainstream, design elements and images associated with it remain for an unknown reason, dark, associated with the sub-cultures of crime and drugs. Even tattoo parlours themselves in most cases failed to match the design of the place and the workstations to their costumers from various sectors of society. For those reasons, I have seen fit to turn to this world in my final project.
The work station is designed especially for tattoo artists.

It includes all necessary elements for the process of tattooing.
The station is mobile in the space of the studio and aims to improve and facilitate the sterilization process that is critical in the process of tattooing. Otzi is tailored to each stage of the process and gives confidence both to the tattooist and his customer. At the same time, the simple and minimalistic design shows the station as a piece of furniture in the studio.

The work station consists of a pair of trays, one fixed and the other disposable. The trays are put on a pair of adjustable legs which create a mobile workstation on wheels. I chose a design which
is clean and modern.

Fixed tray:
antibacterial stainless steel (389). Will be used for elements that do not require a high level of sterility. The color is of the original material. The technology used for the fixed tray is laser cut. Laser cutting has allowed me to plan the deployment of the tray by folding a two-dimensional into three-dimensional product. I created simple and functional forms.
The disposable tray:
made of starch, recyclable material and can solve the difficulties of the preparatory stages of the tattooing process. Cheap and available material. Over the disposable tray the tattooist can print the studio logo or any Image or color of his choice. The technology used is plastic injection mold (IMD). The disposable tray shape is simple and functional. The tattooist can use different inks. In addition, depending on the tattoo size and type, the amount of ink used by tattooist vary from time to time. Disposable tray sizes are available for the tattoo artist according to his needs. For example, a small tattoo which requires less ink could be done with a smaller
disposable tray, which saves material usage and costs, and still is suited to the position and is easy to work with.
Legs:
made of iron coated with matt black paint. The wheels too are made of iron. The wheel rolls at 360 degrees, are hidden and almost invisible to maintain a minimal and clean design. This is an attempt to create a product that has no visible connection to the medical world and does not fall to stigma of the old tattoo world (dark colors / skulls, etc).
